National Excellence Award given to Probation Trusts
24th Oct, 2011 to 31st Jan, 2012
Derbyshire Probation Trust has shared in an award that gives national recognition to the quality of our work.
Nationally, the Probation Service has become the first ever public sector organisation to be awarded the British Quality Foundation's Gold Medal for Excellence.
The BQF Gold Medal for Excellence is awarded every year to an organisation which stands out as an example of excellence to others and demonstrates continued commitment to sustained improvement over a number of years.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Probation Service, Crispin Blunt, Prisons and Probation Minister, said:
“This prestigious award recognises the professionalism of probation staff and the excellence of their work. This very public recognition of not just what they do but, perhaps more importantly, how well they do it, will be a source of pride for probation staff.”
Sue Hall OBE, Chair of the Probation Chiefs Association (PCA) said:
“At a time of big changes for Probation, it’s great to have the endorsement of an organisation such as the BQF. The award underlines that we’re doing a good job and achieving excellence.
“The 35 Probation Trusts in England and Wales have a sound and consistent record of reducing reoffending and protecting the public. We recognise that to get excellent results, you need to have an excellent organisation. This requires a compelling vision, good leadership, skilled motivated staff and a culture which values excellence and continuous improvement. Winning this internationally recognised and nationally coveted award reflects just how strong probation’s commitment to quality and excellence is.”
Sebert Cox OBE, Chair of the Probation Association (PA) said:
“The award will be a huge boost. It will make a public statement for Probation, saying that it’s an organisation that pays close attention to its methods of working and its need for continuous improvement.”
